Grid Outage-resilient GHP “HiPOWER+”
Overview
“HiPOWER+” is a groundbreaking GHP (*1) that ensures customers’ security as a grid outage-resilient system, equipped with a self-sustaining operation capability that allows air conditioning, lighting, and other devices to be operated using generated electricity even during grid outages caused by disasters or other incidents.
*1 GHP refers to a gas-powered air-conditioning system that uses a gas engine to drive the compressor in the outdoor unit and heats and cools air by operating a heat pump.
Features
1.In self-sustaining operation mode, two options are available: power generation only and air conditioning + power generation.
Two mode options—power generation only and air conditioning + power generation—are available to select according to the season and situation. When air conditioning is not required, such as during the intermediate seasons, the amount of power supply will increase by selecting the power generation only option.
2.Consultation for grid connection (*2) not required
“HiPOWER+” cuts the time and effort required to have a consultation for grid connection with the power company and eliminates the need for installing a grid connect system.
*2 Grid connection means supplying generated power to the commercial grid. “HiPOWER+” is a system that supplies power to a specific area without being connected to the grid.
3.Capability to connect multiple units
During self-sustaining operation, it is possible to connect multiple units (*3) to supply power from the main unit (battery-equipped) to connected slave units (no battery equipped). The reduced number of batteries enables a grid outage-resilient system to be built at a reduced cost. Moreover, the increased amount of power generated can be used to supply power to various loads.
*3 The connection method differs by manufacturer.
